From Abu Dhabi to Dubai, some of the UAE’s iconic buildings lit up in colours of India’s flag ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country.

Modi is expected to land in Abu Dhabi on Saturday evening. On Sunday, he is expected to address the World Government Summit in Dubai.

On the eve of Modi’s visit, the Adnoc bulding and Emirates Palace in the capital lit up in India’s tri-colours.

Navdeep Singh Suri, Ambassador of India to the UAE, welcomed the gesture. “Such a nice gesture by our gracious hosts in Abu Dhabi,” he wrote on Twitter.

In Dubai, the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Frame also lit up in the colours of the Indian flag ahead of Modi’s visit, Suri said.
