India vs South Africa 1st ODI: India beat Sout Africa by 6 wickets

India vs South Africa 1st ODI: 11:58 pm IST: MS Dhoni hits the winning runs and India win by six wickets. India lead the six-match series 1-0. This is India first win over South Africa at Kingsmead and it was a special one. Set up by the wrist spinners, Kohli and Rahane batted superbly to lead the chase.

India vs South Africa 1st ODI: Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane made a chase of 270 look too easy and led India to their first win over South Africa in an ODI at Kingsmead. Kohli scored his 33rd ODI century and Rahane made 79 before departing as India won the game by six wickets. After losing two wickets early, Kohli and Rahane got together and gave no chance to South Africa bowlers of taking a wicket. Rohit and Dhawan had got starts but the former threw it away. Dhawan was looking good for a big score but a mix up with Kohli ended in his wicket. The strong Indian batting line-up chased down 270 runs with 27 balls remaining. South Africa were also seen struggling in their innings but managed to recover and post 269 for 8 batting first. Faf du Plessis led the recovert with a fine 120-run innings after South Africa had collapse from 81 for 1 to 132 for 5. Catch India vs South Africa Live Cricket Score 1st ODI here.

11:53 pm IST: WICKET! Virat Kohli is caught at deep fine-leg. He gets a top edge and is caught by Rabada. He is gone for 112. What a brilliant innings from the Indian captain and this will be remembered for the ages

11:50 pm IST: 10 runs required by India with Kohli and Pandya at the crease. What a magnificent win this will be. Kohli the star in this but an equally important innings from Rahane. Has he made the number spot for himself?

11:40 pm IST: WICKET! Ajinkya Rahane has holed out in the deep. End to a remarkable innings that has put India on the cusp of victory. His innings laid the perfect platform for India and Kohli to play the natural game

11:34 pm IST: VIRAT KOHLI CENTURY! What a player he is. ODI century number 33 for him and another one in chase. The ball is full on off-stump and he drives it through covers for a boundary to reach the three-figure mark! Fantastic cricket!

11:28 pm IST: Clobbered! Ajinkya Rahane stands straight and hits one over long on for a beautiful six. That was just beautiful. Morris bowls a wide so he has to bowl the final delivery again. Rahane has helped that over the slips for four! 15 off that over

11:15 pm IST: 200 up for India. Rahane and Kohli have taken the attack to South Africa. India bring up their 200 in the 36th over. Kohli looks in supreme control of the game. Rahane playing an innings that is invaluable for India

11:11 pm IST: FIFTY! Ajinkya Rahane brings up his half-century in the game. This is his fifth consecutive half-century in ODIs. What an innings from Rahane. This has been a brilliant from Rahane. Rotating the strike, getting the odd boundaries and given the set batsman more strike

11:10 pm IST: Morne Morkel is back into the attack for South Africa. India are getting closer to that target now. They are 183 for the loss of two wickets after 34 overs. 96 balls remaining in the innings and India need 87 runs with eight wickets in hand

10:55 pm IST: A fantastic end to the 31st over for India. Kohli gets a boundary off the final delivery. India are 167 for the loss of two wickets. India need 103 more runs for a win. Imran Tahir to bowl the next over

10:43 pm IST: 150 up for India in the 28th over. Virat Kohli has done a fabulous job here. India are 150 for the loss of two wickets and need 120 more runs to win from 132 deliveries. They have eight wickets in hand

10:33 pm IST: FIFTY! Virat Kohli takes a single through the covers to reach his half-century. A good innings so far but can he get his team over the line by playing a captain’s knock? Big responsibility on him

10:31 pm IST: Kohli and Rahane are slowly building up their innings. India are 136 for the loss of two wickets at the halfway stage mark in this chase. Kohli on 49* and Rahane on 25. Tahir to bowl the 26th over

10:14 pm IST: 20 overs bowled in the Indian innings and Kohli and Rahane have taken them to 106 for the loss of two wickets. They need 164 more runs from 180 balls with eight wickets in hand

10:05 pm IST: Kohli and Rahane have taken India close to 100 now. They are scoring at a good rate and both will look to continue the chase in the same manner. Eight wickets in hand for India

09:50 pm IST: Shikhar Dhawan is having an animated chat with batting coach Sanjay Bangar in the dressing room. He is clearly miffed. He was batting well in the middle and the run out will hurt him.

09:35 pm IST: WICKET! Shikhar Dhawan run out for 35! That is an ugly mix-up between Dhawan and Kohli. Morris gets one to beat Dhawan. The batsman is hit on the pads and the ball goes towards point fielder. Kohli has set off for a run and is already halfway there. Dhawan hasn’t realised it yet and runs only after seeing Kohli. Markram, by that time, has picked up the ball and runs out Dhawan with a direct-hit. Dhawan is livid with Kohli and gesture to him while walking back to the pavilion!

09:30 pm IST: Imran Tahir into the attack for the first time. This will be very interesting as how Kohli and Dhawan handle him. India are 59 for the loss of one wicket. They are chasing 270 runs and they need 211 from 234 balls

09:15 pm IST: Shikhar Dhawan continues his good start. He is not connecting it perfectly but has got the runs. India need a big partnership to get some ground in this chase. Virat Kohli and Dhawan at the crease

09:07 pm IST: WICKET! Rohit Sharma has thrown away a good start. He skies one from Morkel. Quinton de Kock calls for the catch early and loud and has no trouble taking it. India lose their first wicket for 33 runs. Rohit made 20

09:00 pm IST: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan looking in no trouble whatsoever out in the middle. Both are striking the ball easily and have scored at a decent pace. India need a good start in this chase

08:45 pm IST: India openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are out in the middle for the chase. This will not be an easy one as they are chasing 270 on a tough wicket and a very tough bowling attack. Morne Morkel has the ball in hand

08:17 pm IST: South Africa finish with 269 for the loss of eight wickets. It is competitive score from South Africa, thanks to the stunning century from captain Faf du Plessis. India did leak a few runs in the death overs and they will not be happy with that

08:15 pm IST: WICKET! Bhuvneshwar bowls a wide delivery, which would have been the final ball of the innings. But he has to re-bowl it now. Rabada tries to steal a bye but is run out. South Africa are 268/8 with a delivery remaining.

08:10 pm IST: WICKET! Faf du Plessis holes out in the deep. Hardik Pandya takes the catch at long-off and there is the end of a magnificent end to South Africa captain’s knock. Still four balls remaining in the innings.

08:08: pm IST: 16 runs from the over of Bumrah. Not what India would have liked at this stage of the innings. South Africa well on course to reach 275. They are 264 for the loss of six wickets. Faf du Plessis on strike with Bhuvneshwar beginning the final over

08:03 pm IST: Two overs remain in the innings. South Africa need a big finish here to reach anything close to 270 and above. Faf du Plessis still out there. Bumrah will bowl the penultome over.

07:55 pm IST: HUNDRED! Faf du Plessis takes a single through the leg side and completes his century. Brilliant innings from the South Africa captain. South Africa needed that innings from him after that middle order collapse.

07:48 pm IST: Five overs remaining in the South Africa innings. They are 223 for the loss of six wickets. A good show in the final five overs can see South Africa reach a good total. Faf du Plessis nearing a much deserved century

07:36 pm IST: This has gone over Ajinkya Rahane! Swept well and good contact made by Phehlukwayo. A taller fielder on the boundary and South Africa may have been one more down. Tossed up by Chahal, Phehlukwayo gets on his knee and slog sweeps to deep mid-wicket. Hit it very flat, Rahane jumped as high as he could but it eludes him in the end. SIX! Virat Kohli has hands over his head.

07:24 pm IST: Kuldeep Yadav picks up his third wicket and is all smiles with Chris Morris missing a simple smash-and-boundary-ball. A much needed breakthrough for India. A wild swing by Morris, slower one in the air and he misses it completely. The partnership is broken but the momentum has well and truly shifted.

07:21 pm IST: 200 up for South Africa! Faf is leading South Africa’s charge here. Smashes it in the gap at the deep mid-wicket. Flighted delivery by Chahal and it is smacked away.

07:19 pm IST: Faf du Plessis survives a decent stumping shout from MS Dhoni. On first look it seemed to be an innocuous shout. Spun past Faf’s defence, lost his balance a bit and Dhoni being Dhoni was on it in a flash. Back foot in the air? Third umpire takes a look. Maybe just grounded it in time

07:15 pm IST: With the pace combination of Bhuvneshwar-Bumrah not working, Kohli returns to spin. 34 runs in four overs before more spin for South Africa to counter. Chahal and Kuldeep bowling together now. Faf and Morris have taken complete control from 134/5

06:51 pm IST: South Africa move to 149 for the loss of five wickets. 33 overs have been bowled in their innings. Du Plessis nearing his century. Morris is the partner with him. Can they lost a big score from here?

06:40 pm IST: Faf du Plessis completes his half-century! A good innings from the South Africa captain but his team needs more from him. A big innings is needed from him. Chris Morris is the other batsman for South Africa at the crease now

06:27 pm IST: WICKET! David Miller is caught at short mid-off! Kohli is claiming the catch but Miller is holding his ground. The umpires will wait for the third umpire now. That is a clear catch. Good, low catch from the Indian skipper. Brilliantly done.

06:19 pm IST: WICKET! Kuldeep Yadav with a ripper. The googly has done the trick and JP Duminy is beaten all ends up. The ball goes between his bat and pad and rattles his stumps. India spinners doing a fine job for the team

06:10 pm IST: JP Duminy off the mark with a four! That is a very confident shot from the left-hander. He has played these bowlers in the Indian Premier League and will know how to tackle them. Faf du Plessis is also an experienced coustmer.

05:57 pm IST: WICKET! Second wicket to Chahal. He has Markram caught at shot-midwicket! That was a sharp catch from Hardik Pandya and Markram is a bit surprised there. Brilliant cricket from India there. South Africa three down

05:53 pm IST: 100 up for South Africa! Du Plessis and Markram ensure that South Africa do not lose anymore wickets before reaching the three-figure mark! But India spinners have managed to trouble these batsman and put pressure on them

05:45 pm IST: South Africa captain Faf du Plessis and Markram are at the crease. They need to build a partnership. Losing regular wickets will only take South Africa down. India continue with spin. These middle overs will be very crucial.

05:35 pm IST: WICKET! Yuzvendra Chahal gets the wicket of Quinton de Kock! The ball is going into De Kock and he misses it. India appeal for LBW and the umpire raises his finger. India get the second wicket. The hawkeye shows that it would have missed the leg stump.

05:21 pm IST: Two new bowlers are in the middle for India. Yuzvendra Chahal is operating the spin attack while it is Hardik Pandya who is continuing the seam attack. India still continue to search for wickets here as Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock have taken South Africa over 50 runs.

05:13 pm IST: End of the first powerplay and it has been a mixed one so far. South Africa has scored at a steady run rate of 5, but have lost a wicket. South Africa 49/1 after 10 overs.

05:10 pm IST: Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been hit for plenty of runs in this over. Faf du Plessis has hit three boundaries in three balls. Expensive over for India.

05:01 pm IST: WICKET! India’s patience has been rewarded here and Jasprit Bumrah has his man! Hashim Amla departs for 16 and he has been adjudged LBW here. Wait… is it no ball? Just saved by a whisker! SA 30/1.

05:00 pm IST: Virat Kohli has gone off the field to get some treatment. He landed awkwardly in the previous over while trying to save a boundary. Trouble for Indian skipper?

04:53 pm IST: Both the seamers have proved to be pretty ineffective so far. Bumrah has been hit for 14 runs in 3 overs, while Bhuvneshwar has given away 9 in as much overs. Should skipper Virat Kohli think about making a change?

04:45 pm IST: Quinton de Kock is looking comfortable on this pitch, more than he did in the Tests. The pitch seems to be helping the batsmen here early in the day.

04:40 pm IST: Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are finding it hard at the moment to swing the ball. The ball is coming straight to bat and it is a decent start for South Africa.

04:35 pm IST: Dinesh Karthik, who had a good showing in ODIs against New Zealand and Sri Lanka has been left out and Ajinkya Rahane and Kedar Jadhav have been included. Smart decision by the captain?

04:31 pm IST: One over down and it is a good start from the seamer. He moved the ball in angles and did not allow South African openers to get too many runs. South Africa 3/1 after 1st over. Jasprit Bumrah is starting from the other end now.

04:25 pm IST: HERE WE GO! Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock in the middle and it is Bhuvneshwar Kumar with the new ball. Can he give another solid start like he did in the first Test at Cape Town?

04:11 pm IST: Shaun Pollock has given his word on the pitch and he reckons it’s a good decision by South Africa to bat first. The pitch will provide bounce to spinners but he adds that it has a tendency to slow down a bit as the match progresses.

04:10 pm IST: Injured AB de Villiers not playing in the side and JP Duminy returns in place for him. Aiden Markram is in the side and Chris Morris and Imran Tahir also included.

04:05 pm IST: India team news – Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are back in the side. Ajinkya Rahane, as predicted will bat at No. 4 position. India playing three spinners here, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal along with allrounder Kedar Jadhav. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are three seamers in the side. Mohammed Shami left out from first ODI.

04:00 pm IST: South Africa have won the toss and have elected to bat first in the ODI. Indian skipper Virat Kohli says he would have liked to bat first as well on this pitch.
